About Us

I asked my daughter to compose a few words about me for this page….

About Ed Hill (my Dad)

As I was applying my makeup today, running late as usual to work my father stuck his head in to the bathroom and asked me to write something for his website. Where do I begin, well 22 years ago I was born—Oh yeah this is supposed to be about him. But that previous fact I just mentioned is important because that is when I met the most powerful influence and inspiration in my life, my father. At a very young age he taught me the important things in life, I was identifying the different magic posters around my room by shouting Dante, Carter and Blackstone from my crib. For the many years that we planned our family vacations around old bookstores and magic collections, my appreciation for collecting and my father’s hobby left a lasting impact. He is also the most patient person in the world (I know I have tested it on several occasions), which is why his profession of being a high school teacher is ideal, and I also think he is a fan of the hours/vacation time. He is always on the go due to that fact that he is super involved in many different magic organizations and usually quietly at the helm doing most of the work behind the scenes. Every time we chat he is always bringing up new ideas for tricks to replicate or books to write. I am the partner in crime taking the photos, folding the letters and typing the membership listings. As he gets older the more he gets involved with his collection, conventions, and his school’s curriculum. I am impressed everyday with the projects he takes on and how he manages to complete them with such gusto and flair and also leaving time for the many aspects of his life which he lives to the fullest.

About Me…..

When I am not teaching I am involved with the New England Magic Collectors Association and have served as co-editor of their journal, The Yankee Magic Collector, for over twenty years. In addition to my editorial duties I enjoy researching and contributing articles to The Yankee Magic Collector as well as other “historical oriented” publications. I also take great pleasure in assisting other magic collectors in their research and opening up my “library” to both historians and performers searching for information.
