The Mysterious Desk

A marked dime is placed into the wooden box and the box is then locked. A small block of wood, which is attached to the box by a long ribbon, is then placed atop an empty glass. In full view of the audience the very same dime mysteriously materializes in the glass. The box is then unlocked and shown to be empty!

The Mysterious Desk is a finely crafted reproduction of a charming magic trick from the 19 th century. The trick was first published in Wyman’s Hand-Book of Magic from 1851.
