THEY WERE ALL MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL CONJURERS ASSOCIATION SOMETIME BETWEEN 1911 AND 1923!
FIND OUT WHO ELSE WAS A MEMBER AND MAYBE A LITTLE MORE ABOUT THE OTHER 646 MAGICIANS.
This 46 page booklet is a listing of all of the members of the National Conjurers Association arranged alphabetically and by NCA membership number. Other information listed in the book includes applicant’s year of birth and abbreviated notes included on the application form by the applicant.
The NCA membership applications are on file as part of the H.A. Smith Collection of Magic at Brown University and can be viewed there. The applications are bound in seven volumes organized by membership number. The original applications also include current address, place of birth, occupation, first contact with magic and more. Some of the applications include photographs, business cards and letters from the applicant. Most of the applications are hand-written by the applicant.
The applications are important source material for any magic historian or magic collector trying to research a magician from the late 1800’s or early 1900’s. Until the publication of this booklet the only way to find out if a magician was included was to visit Brown and go through the applications one by one. Now you can easily find out if a magician was a member and his or her membership number. This booklet is a valuable research tool for both the historian and collector.
